Nobscot Park Memorial Garden

The memorial garden at Nobscot Park is finished! The park was in full autumn glory as Framingham Garden Club president Nancy Martin dedicated the memorial garden on Thursday, October 25, 2018 in honor of the club’s 85th birthday.

To commemorate our deceased members, FGC created this personalized garden with a Japanese snowbell tree, custom carved granite bench and a granite “We Remember” marker.
The beautiful Memorial Bench and “We Remember” marker are proud features of the memorial garden at Nobscot Park.

Framingham Garden Club was instrumental in creating Nobscot Park in the mid-1990s. Over 150 years ago, the site was the location of Framingham School House #8, then later Grange Hall and the Scout House, which burned to the ground in 1994.…

Town Library Learning Series 2017

On November 3, The Framingham Public Library invited FGC members Nancy Martin and Marion Goodman to lead a lively flower arranging demonstration as part of the Library’s “Brown Bag Learning Series.”

One Friday a month, the FPL hosts wonderful lunchtime continuing education workshops and entertaining lectures that are open and free to the public.

Framingham Garden Club members Martin and Goodman’s contribution to this ‘Brown Bag Brain Boost’ was filled with simple tips to make beautiful centerpieces using inexpensive flowers from the supermarket that will be the envy of your family and friends.

Our participation in the Framingham Public Library’s event series is just one of the ways we love to give back to our friends and neighbors. …

Nobscot Park Memorial Bench

Framingham Garden Club works to put our skills to use for our home town. Since taking over the design and care for the garden leading into Framingham’s Nobscot Park, we’ve been planning this second phase:

Workmen delivered our raw materials to the Park and helped to assemble this beautiful Memorial Bench that will be a proud feature of the personalized garden and the new town park we lovingly tend to.

The granite slabs are polished and carved to commemorate all of our former deceased members.

An official commemoration with news coverage is expected in November of 2017

Garden Club Goes Back In Time

A large group of Framingham Garden Club members attended a special tour at the Framingham Historical Center entitled “Stitches in History,” presented by the History Center’s Curator, Stacen Goldman.

On February 2, 2017, FGC members were treated to a display of clothing that spanned the years 1772-1927. All of the clothing was actually worn by Framingham women. The exhibit consisted of a selection of 13 dresses from the FHC’s massive collection of over 300 items.

We would like to thank Meg Kelley from the Garden Club for arranging this special tour, and especially Stacen Goldman and the History Center for keeping Framingham’s past alive so vibrantly.…
